TSW describe the ways Thomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry helped lead America to independence, explain how the election of the House of Burgesses was the beginning of American democracy, and identify the main idea of the Declaration of Independence.
Read and discuss pp. 162 – 167 and then address the above questions in their social studies notebooks/folders.

Read pp. 168 – 169. TSW be given questions to answer using either an encyclopedia or a dictionary. TSW look answers in the correct reference book and record the correct answer.
